Having a Hoot Scooting the Scoot!

On Tuesday this week, we had some visitors from the Police, and Auckland Transport, who ran the students through some paces on scooters. They learned about safety and etiquette as well as improving their control of braking.

Here are some accounts from the students:

One day we went to scooter training to learn to scooter. We learnt to walk on the road safely. We learned to stop when you're walking on the road. When you are waiting for a car to come out or in the driveway wait patiently.

I was not doing scooter training at all. My finger was fractured  and I had a cast thing and I can't bend my finger. If I ride with one hand I will fall, but I was listening. They lined up on a white line on the right side of the court. Then they had to stop on the 2nd white line and then all the way to the left side of the court.

One day we did scooter training because it is fun and it is wonderful and great. We did obstacles and exercising and safety checking. We wore cool helmets.

On Tuesday we had scooter training. At the scooter training we had an obstacle course setup

for us everybody had to do it about 3 times. I didn't really know how to ride a scooter but I tried

and in the end I was actually pretty good.

Scooter Training

We had Scooter Training on Tuesday. I got a red scooter that was the same one as the 1st. We had to wear a helmet because we need a helmet or our heads will get hurt on the concrete. Second, we had to learn how to brake when we were riding a scooter.

On Tuesday we had Scooter training. When we got to where this line that was on the concrete Mr Greenfield would say funny things like “She went past the line. She has to go to jail!” It was really fun.

Scooter Training!

On Tuesday, Room 17 went to scooter training. Constable Holly taught us scooter safety. First we learned how to use your back brake, then we learned the emergency brake. After that we did an obstacle course, which had a stop sign, a driveway (not a real one), cones, and a give way sign. I enjoyed it.

Scooter training!

This week my class went to scooter training with my class Rm17. Constable Holly taught us some basic skills to keep safe. When you are on the road, look both ways 2 times before you walk on the crossing. If you don't walk on the road and scooter on the road there is an emergency stop when you jump off to the side and land with both feet. It was really fun to experience some scooter safe stuff to keep us safe.
