Arts Rotation

Puriri team is enjoying an arts rotation, including Drama, Dance and Visual Arts.

Room 17 has kicked off with Drama, exploring the themes of Jack and the Beanstalk.

We explored the emotions around selling a prized cow for a bean, how Jack's mother felt about the bean business, the morals of taking something from another person - what is ownership? Finally, we set up a court case where the Giant made a complaint against Jack for thievery.

Interestingly, the class was almost evenly split on whether Jack should have taken the Golden Goose or not. Some argued that he and his mother needed it more than the Giant, while others decided that he should have asked the Giant for one egg, not just stolen the Goose.

Drama has the ability to get into the heart of a text and really explore the human (or Giant!) side of events.
This is what living Happily Ever After looks like.

Conscience Alley. Jack faces a moral decision as the "alley" whispers ideas about right and wrong.

The Court is in session and each side passionately argues for their position.
