Kid Scientists Get a Bubbly Reaction!

It's Science term! We had some practice writing up reports about things we observe when conducting experiments. It is important to record experiments accurately so that other scientists can repeat the experiments to test your results and conclusions.

Science is all about being critical about the work of others until many people have had similar results - that is the strength of science: it can be improved with time, or even undergo severe re-modelling.

The Science Experiment.
On Thursday the 9th  of May we did a science experiment. We went in six groups of four. So first we wrote down what the teacher wrote on the board then we started to do the experiment. Mariam went first but nothing happened. So I tried but nothing happened either then Charlotte did one and it fizzed. There was one more that was for Aoibheann. It also fizzed.

Yesterday we did science experiments. In beakers 1 and 3 nothing happened but we did think something would happen. In beaker 2, a bubble raised up as we spoke (frothed). When we added lemon juice to beaker 3, a bubble raised up but it was small and it got smaller as we spoke.

Sometimes, science is dangerous. The wonders of science awaits you! Science is to see if it is true or not, and other scientists check it.

On Thursday, Mr G decided to bring baking soda, water, vinegar, food colouring and a bottle of lemon juice to school for an experiment. First he got some  ice block sticks and plastic containers (beakers). After that he decided to tell us about it (children of room 17). After we did the experiment we learnt baking soda reacts with acid.
